Sean VanDalen

Chief Mechanic

In a garage in Foley, Minnesota, a passion for nitro RC racing ignited — a spark that would shape a lifetime. He transformed that spark into Full Throttle RC Raceway, tucked away in between corn fields in Foley, Minnesota. Sean developed the track into a regional hub, hosting statewide events like the MNRC series, and monthly points race series.

Mechanically gifted, Sean has earned a reputation for engine‑tuning excellence. His garage became the workshop for S&S, where he meticulously fine‑tunes nitro engines, conducts break‑in services, and creates performance modifications for racers seeking every ounce of speed out of their RC cars. This lead to his idea for a Mono Brake system.

Today, Sean remains a pillar of the RC community: a skilled mechanic, proactive track owner, and coach who molds future talent. He’s a familiar face in the pits— quick to offer guidance, wisdom, or hands‑on support during high‑stakes races, elevating many racers’ performances.

But perhaps his most enduring legacy is mentoring his son, Seth VanDalen. From backyard bashing to Tekno RC’s professional ranks, Seth’s rise reflects his father’s dedication. Together, they’ve notched big wins—like Seth’s top finishes at the Dirt Nitro Challenge and success on the international stage.

Pro Driver and Engineer

From the farmlands of Foley, Minnesota, Seth VanDalen’s journey began on dusty lanes behind his dad’s cabinet shop on what is now the iconic Full Throttle RC Raceway. Immersed in the sport from a young age, Seth’s passion for nitro RC racing found fertile ground—one that would blossom into professional success.

As he honed his skills, Seth went from backyard tinkering to commanding the lineup at top-tier events. In 2020, he stunned the RC community by taking TQ in Pro Nitro Buggy at the Dirt Nitro Challenge, showcasing both raw talent and racecraft. By 2025, his dominance grew–– Seth claimed the Pro Nitro Truck title at the DNC, outpacing legends like Ryan Maifield in a razor‑close finish.

A multi‑class competitor, Seth has consistently secured top finishes across buggy and truck classes. His Pro Electric Truck performances at the 2025 DNC landed him in the top 10, and his Pro Electric Buggy runs saw him firmly in the A‑main heat..

More than just a driver, Seth is the living embodiment of his family’s RC legacy—shaped by his father’s meticulous tuning and trackside mentorship. Seth is also a wizard when it comes to modifying and his vehicles with custom parts and getting the best set up possible. This prowess is evident in the S&S Mono Brake.

    Have the S&S team assemble your kit to factory spec and give it the VanDalen setup.

  • Nitro Engine Servicing

    Resizing the piston and sleeve will extend your engine life and bring your worn out or tired engine back to life. It will help increase compression and seal for your worn engine. You’ll notice improved performance, better idling, and it'll be easier to tune.

  • Nitro Engine Break In Service

    Nitro engine break in service ( EBIS ) is a computer control and monitored method to get your motor race-ready.

    Let S&S break in your nitro engine— saving you loads of time and fuel. 

  • Nitro Engine Modifications

    Engine modifications include, sleeve porting, crank tuning, cleanup depending on the application, and customer’s request.

  • Engine Bearing Replacement

    Engine bearings have a critical role in your engine’s performance and reliability. If you notice any bearing noise or leaking from the front bearing, it’s time to replace the bearings to keep your engine running in tip top shape.

  • Engine Inspection and Repair Estimate

    S&S carefully inspect every part to ensure that when reassembled it’s as it was from the factory.

    Service includes complete tear down of motor and inspection of bearings, seals, piston and sleeve fitment, etc., and reassembly.
